I thought I would enjoy this more, since I'm from St. Louis myself. However, it's tiresome to spend time with a character who is so weak-willed, and easily badgered by people around her. It's difficult to become interested in Mercy when she has little to no control over her life. The writer puts Mercy in the role of an unwitting victim the majority of the time; someone who just bobs along on the wake of stronger character's lives. Rather than feeling sympathetic to this, I found myself rolling my eyes and getting annoyed. She needs to grow a set and use them! I am not going to finish the rest of the boxed set, and doubt I will read anything else by this writer.Product details

I really enjoy Mercy Watts. She is an interesting, well rounded, crazy character. She doesn't go looking for problems, they find her. Her desire to help people and her sense of duty truly creates a compelling person. The cast of characters is outrageous and long. Enjoy meeting Aaron (one of my favorites), her "aunts", nuns, the mafia, insane cousins etc. Many hours of enjoyment and giggles. I have now read all 6 books and all the shorts and am begging for more. Please? Soon?
I love this series. If you enjoy a mystery, mixed with a little fun chaos and a dash of romance you will enjoy this series. I read them all and intend to place this on my to check on list to read any new books in this series. It is a perfect vacation read, just beware it contains some laugh out loud scenarios so warn the person next to you that they may be in a spontaneous laughing zone that is no reflection on them. -0) I actually would rate this set 4.5 but can't give 1/2 stars apparently. Enjoy
Mercy and her crew of nutjobs are at it again. I enjoy some of the hijinks and weird characters. The first book was annoying the way Mercy'smom and dad just kept running roughshod over her, manipulating her into things, then blaming her for crap. And they seem to have little to no concern when she is attacked, injured, etc. Books two and three were a little less irritating in that way, so I'll read more of the series.
I love A.W. Hartoin's sense of humor. The Mercy Watts series is one of my favorites. The girl goes through some seriously crazy cases, solving some crazy crimes. Top it off with a slightly crazy family, a nerdy boyfriend and a weird sort-of partner named Aaron (who I wish was real so I could get his recipes, because he's an amazing cook lol) I'm hoping there will be more Mercy stories for a long time to come. Highly entertaining reading!
Easy reading and some laughs. The underlying "mysteries" were interesting. However, I found the writing to be a bit simplistic and tedious at times. Didn't hold my attention for long periods of time.
The first couple of little books were just so-so. I found myself rolling my eyes every time there were comments about the main character Mercy looking like Marilyn Monroe and being endowed. But those eventually taper off and the true character and personalities emerge. Which I knew they would. I was already a fan of A.W. Hartoin, and having read everything else she's written, decided to give the Mercy Watts series a try. Happy I did. Mercy is a bit of a walking disaster, with a nerdy, undernourished boyfriend, a detective father who puts her in harms way, and a slew of other interesting and quirky characters. Fun, good mystery plots. Don't miss!

I truly enjoyed these books and want to read more of Mercy's adventures. When this nurse takes a vacation things HAPPEN! She has gotten involved with the mafia, drug smuggling among other things. Mercy looks just like her mother. People think they are seeing double - Marilyn Monroes. Her father is a retired police detective and they run a agency detective type!. The parents frequently ask Mercy to run errands along with her cousin Charlie Aaron her bodyguard who likes to cook. The stories are fun interesting and so great to read!!!
